1 in 6 children live in a food-insecure household. Not only is this a physical health concern, but it can be crucial to the development of healthy mindsets. One of the greatest obstacles in eating healthy food can be a lack of accessibility.
United Way fights for each child in our community to have the resources and opportunities to achieve optimal physical and mental health. Hometown Huddle 2023 is tackling hunger because school breaks should not mean hungry children in our community. Join groups of volunteers during Hometown Huddle as they provide opportunities to promote healthy eating and physical activity of students.
Designated Collection Sites will collect items through September 19th, 2023. Sites will then bring their collected items to Patterson Park Community Center on September 19 and 20.
On Thursday, September 21, at 9 am, we will hold the Hometown Huddle Sort-a-Thon at Patterson Park! Volunteers are needed to stuff bags with collected food items then load bags to be distributed.
