We are looking for volunteers to provide childcare and dinner assistance for Born Learning Academy Workshops. The volunteer commitment is from 12:00-2:15 on various dates at Stewartsboro Elementary. Childcare volunteers will be with a group of children ages infant through 12 years. The majority of children will be in the pre-k and early elementary age group. United Way and Rutherford County Schools staff will provide supplies and activities for engaging childcare.
Volunteers may also assist with meal set-up, service, and minimal clean-up. This is a great way to interact with the families we are serving and support the Born Learning program.
The United Way Born Learning Academy offers tips, tools and resources to make sure kids are ready to learn when they start kindergarten. It's a series of six free workshops that help turn everyday activities into early learning moments. Parents and caregivers with a child who hasn't yet entered Kindergarten and/or parents-to-be who are expecting a child are invited to register for the Academy. Workshops are held during the day at Stewartsboro Elementary. We provide lunch and fun childcare during each session. This Academy will be held at Stewartsboro Elementary from 12:30-2:00 pm on the following dates: June 5, 9, 11, 16, 18, and 23.
